Amusement parks make the best backdrops for aesthetic photographs. Not only will you have memorable photos from your time spent at the park, the magic of the amusement park is also a photographer’s dream. There’s inspiration to be found when you’re surrounded by the bright neon lights of the rides, charm of the carnival games and the pretty cotton candy sunsets.
Some of my favourite parks for photography include Harry Potter World at Universal Studios and the Disneyland parks. I’ve categorized them based on sceneries to look for when visiting any park. I hope that this post gives you some new ideas on how to capture some aesthetic amusement park photos.
Capture Memories at the Ferris Wheel
The Ferris Wheel is a classic photo spot at any amusement park and has always been a symbol of timeless romance and adventure. Not only are there breathtaking views from the top, but the scenes are so dreamy whether you capture a photo on the Ferris Wheel or with it in the background. My favourite photo spots for a Ferris Wheel photos are at the Santa Monica pier and Disneyland California Adventure Park.
Stay for Sunset for a Dreamy Vibe
As the sun begins to set, the amusement park transforms drastically into the warm hues of golden hour, followed by a nostalgic pink and purple painted sky. That’s why you must stay for sunset to capture this vibe, as the lights of the park also come alive against the twilight sky.
Take Cute Dessert Photography
I always look up what the must-try desserts are at the amusement park, especially taking note of which look the cutest. Each theme park will likely have more than one unique feature dessert. One tip I have is to make sure you order it early during your park visit, incase they run out of stock!
The Raspberry Micky Mouse Macron pictured below from Disneyland California Adventure Park was sold out by noon. Also the mochi Toy Story aliens at Tokyo DisneySea were not only super cute, but delicious as well!

Amusement parks often go all out for the holidays, transforming into wonderlands of themed decor and festive cheer. Whether it’s the bright lights and festivities of Christmas or the spooky horrors of Halloween, visiting during a seasonal holiday offers endless opportunities for unique and vibrant photography.
Wander the Unique Worlds of the Amusement Park
Beyond the rides and attractions, amusement parks often feature themed areas that transport visitors to different worlds. My favourites worlds for photography are at the Arabian Coast, Ariel’s Mermaid Lagoon and Toy Story Mania! at Tokyo Disney Sea.
At Universal Studios, I loved walking down Diagon Alley and taking photos in front of the store fronts. Make sure you get the iconic Butterbeer!
