Calgary Momo House: authentic Nepalese restaurant in Calgary
If you’re craving authentic Nepalese flavours in Calgary, Momo House is the place you won’t want to miss. Created with love by husband and wife duo, Chef Prakash and Pooja, this cozy, family-owned restaurant is all about bringing the rich, traditional tastes of Nepal to the local Calgary community.
Their goal is simple — to create food that tastes just like home — and that kind of passion is exactly what makes me fall in love with a restaurant.
As you know, food is a huge part of experiencing the local culture during my travels. And although I haven’t made it to Nepal yet, I’m so glad that Pooja and Chef Prakash have brought a piece of their home to Calgary through their cooking for us.
They were recently featured on the Food Network with Guy Fieri! And are most well known for their handmade Momo’s (Nepalese style dumplings).

Calgary Momo House offers the best lunch specials from Monday to Thursday from 12pm – 4pm and their signature dishes like the chicken thukpa become such a good deal at $8.99.
They currently have two locations in the Calgary suburbs — one in the Northwest and one in the Northeast. While it’s a little farther from the downtown core, it’s truly a fantastic neighbourhood spot (and honestly, it’s worth the drive if you’re looking to try authentic Nepalese cuisine).

During my visit, I had the chance to try the chicken thukpa, chicken momo platter, and butter chicken. Everything I had was packed with flavour and you can just taste how much love goes into each dish. If I had to pick a favourite, the chicken thukpa was the comfort food I didn’t know I needed.
I’m officially adding Calgary Momo House to my list of favourite lunch spots in Calgary — and I’m already looking forward to my next plate of Momos!
Please note that this experience was hosted by Calgary Momo House, however all my thoughts are my own.
